This was the full, official version of an Office 365 annual subscription for my family. Already priced at a discount, what made the deal sweeter for me was an additional 3 months for the price of a yearly subscription. Very, very happy with this purchase.

Unathorized to sell the products they list

I purchased a software license from shopto but the company who makes the software was not able to provide the software, it was an older version and they no longer had the download files required to install it. They also informed me that shopto is not an authorized reseller of their software. Shopto refused to refund the transaction.

Update: Per their reply, they require notification from the supplier that the software is no longer available. The supplier confirmed that ShopTo is not an authorized reseller of their software so they are unlikely to get this information. This means that they are selling a product that no longer exists. To be clear, I am not implying that ShopTo overall is not a reputable business but selling a license for software that cannot actually be obtained is clearly unacceptable. Their refusal to consider a refund and unwillingness to communicate with me is the largest issue. How can people buy digital products from a company when there is no recourse when those products are not available? The argument that other purchasers have not complained is not valid, I would be very surprised if they've sold any other licenses recently for the 5 year old version of this particular software. I followed the steps the provide to download the software and it is clearly not available.

We have received no information from the supplier to denote that this item has been discontinued/cannot be redeemed/downloaded

We will enquire with our supplier in relation to this item:we have received no reports nor complaints, from other buyers of this item, that they have had any issue in using/redeeming the code we have provided to them

Once a digital item/code has been seen, our policy is that the item has been rendered non returnable/non cancellable/non refundable, so, unless the supplier confirms that the item is no longer redeemable/downloadable, we woud not be able to offer a refund for such an item

It seems you are confusing the supplier of the code you have received, with the publisher of the item you have ordered/purchased

From your message, you contacted the publisher of the item, who suggested to you that the files/download link was no longer available from themselves:we were referring to the supplier, ie where the code came from, that was provided to you, that code is not provided from the publisher, hence why, despite what the publisher may have suggested to yourself, has no bearing on our being a reseller for the item:we offer/sell digital items/codes for Sony/Microsoft consoles, Nintendo consoles as well as PC titles and we are very much authorized to offer/sell the codes we list on our site

As previously mentioned, we have received no other reports of issues with customers not being able to redeem/download the item you have purchased:if the supplier confirms that the item is no longer available/redeemable, we will take the appropriate action in relation to offering/listing the item on site

Please refrain from posting potentially defamatory statements such as suggesting we are a scam:the overwhelming majority of five star positive reviews posted on this platform, confirm that we do not operate in such a manner

In regard to your further edited/updated review, if the code is no longer available/if the software is no longer accessible, of course customers have appropriate recourse for order cancellation/refund:we can enquire with the supplier as to the specific item and if they confirm that the publisher has specified that the item cannot be redeemed/used/downloaded, we will not have an issue in cancelling an order/providing a refund (we understand you have already informed a member of our team that you have received a refund from your payment provider) we will follow this up, as appropriate, with the supplier of the code and we will make any appropriate amendments to site listings/items offered on site, should the need arise in relation to this item or any other item offered/listed for sale on site
